Following Vodafones notification of their new data pricing and vodafone live terms it seems there are grounds for cancellation under their T&Cs without penalty.
See:
http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template11&pageID=PPP_00 52&tabIndex=0
The relevant section of their T&Cs are:
a) You may end this Agreement immediately by writing to us if:-
we do not do what we have to do under this Agreement and do not put it right within 7 days of being asked in writing to do so;
all of the Services are permanently no longer available to you;
we increase the monthly (or other periodic line rental charge under clause 7a) and such increase (calculated as a percentage) is more than the increase in the Retail Prices Index Figure ("RPI", also calculated as a percentage) for the period from the month of the last increase (if any) to the month before we send the notice of the change in tariffs and you write to us before the increase takes effect. If we increase the monthly (or other periodic) line rental charge by more than the increase in the RPI we will tell you; or during the Term we increase in the United Kingdom and under clause 7a,
call or other usage charges which have the effect of increasing your call or other usage charges by more than 10% or the increase in RPI calculated as in 8a above (which ever is the greater) based upon your previous call or usage pattern;
you write to us before the increase takes effect.
The bold section basically means that as long as you have browsed Vodafone Live at some point since they last increased their prices and this increase will mean your charges for browsing increase by more than 10% based no your prevous usage patterns, you will be entitled to leave your contract without penalty.
Now the grey area - The T&Cs state call / usage as options, meaning you can take just your 'Other' items into account, you would have to be in a situation that you had either:-
A. Used Vodafone lives free content to an extent that outweighs your paid for usage enough to have increased your 'other' section by more than 10%
B. Never bought anything or browsed outside of vodafone live but have browsed vodafone live.
This one isnt as clear cut as the Three UK 11.d cancellations that went on a while ago as your actual usage must be taken into account so I cant say if you will or wont be eligible, it will be a matter of try it and see, theres nothing to stop you sending a letter saying you wish to cancel and then asking them to provide proof / a breakdown showing that it would not have been of detriment to you.
Now I personally have to admit that I am quite happy with Voda at the moment, they have served me well and always provided great CS so I wont be taking part in this but if anyone would like to give it a go please leave your comments.
