World鈥橲 First CDMA DVB-H Wireless Handset
Samsung is demonstrating the world's first DVB-H handset developed for CDMA networks at the annual Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA) trade show this week.
On display at its booth at CTIA (#1045, Hall B1), Samsung's DVB-H handset demo will show consumers the future of mobile broadcasting 鈥 bringing large-volume multimedia, television and radio content to a wireless handset.
With updated Internet Protocol Datacast (IPDC) functionality built into Samsung's CDMA DVB-H phone, users will experience interactive mobile television. Viewers can watch home shopping programs on their wireless handset, receive real-time product information and instantly make a purchase via their phone.
This latest addition to its portfolio of mobile broadcasting products makes Samsung the first manufacturer to successfully develop DVB-H handsets supporting both CDMA and GSM networks, the platforms commonly used in the U.S. and Europe. Already included in its product line-up are terrestrial and satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) phones, developed for the Asian market.
