I prefer Sony Ericssons really, they have a more intuitive interface and walkman ones like you mentioned are great for using as mp3 players.

I'd suggest the w810i instead though as it's got a pretty decent camera, takes (cheap) produo cards and has a mp3 player too.  Plus it'd be pretty cheap by now too
